I am currently leaning towards the F717 because in dpreview and on their forums...many new 5400 owners are experiencing AF low light problems and not focusing well in general...
All I know is that, whatever my decision comes down to...anything will be better than the 2 MP fully automatic camera I have now! (well, had... I just sold it to my dad along with the 52SM card for 100$)
If/when I get a hang of the new camera, I will probably post on a different/one of my old DA accounts..... not jbaby....

I only had that camera for a very short time, it was between owning a Nikon 4500 and a Canon G3, I can tell you I like either of those other cameras better. Although the C-5050 is a good camera, and if you don't use a lot of different digicams I doubt you would be dissapointed with it, but in my estimation, it produced chromatic abberations (purple fringe/highlighting) much too often, also, the super macro mode was nice, but in comparing shots I took with it and the Nikon 4500, the 4500 produces much more detail in macro shots, the 5050 does come with all the accessories and has tons of options in-camera settings wise that I like, so in those respects it's very good. I had previously owned an Olympus C-3020, which I liked very much, but for some intangible reason, I just didn't like the 5050 as much.... The best thing I can suggest to anyone looking at digi cams is to TEST TEST TEST, go to the stores hold them, take pics with them, get to know them, and if possible take a compact flash, SMcard, to the store and take pics home to look at them. If you have any specific questions about the cam let me know.

What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire deviant life, that there's something wrong with the story. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.
You take the blue pill, the story ends. Your browser closes and you believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland. And, I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
I offer only the truth, nothing more.
